 CREATED IN HIS IMAGE

It is important to understand how God sees Mankind and how He relates to us. We can get a better understanding of His great love for His created beings and what He intended for them. God wants to be understood and known by Mankind. God created men and women as high level beings. He wants relationship, family, and intimacy. He made Mankind for fellowship and to share in ruler ship.

Genesis 1:26, 27, 28—And Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Verse 27—So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Verse 28—Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth, and subdue it . . .

The word “image” in Hebrew is “tselem.” It means resemblance, hence a representative figures. The word “likeness” in Hebrew is “demuwth.” It means resemblance, like manner, similitude. In the Winston Dictionary for Schools “resemblance,” means to be similar to in appearance or character. God made Mankind similar to His appearance, so we resemble Him.

The more a person surrenders their life to God, the more He can transform an individual to be like Him in character. We are able to communicate with God with understanding. God and Mankind can communicate face to face, spiritually. One of the definitions mentions Mankind as a representative figure. “Of what?” You may ask. Humans are representatives of God’s authority on Earth. Those submitted to His Kingship will carry in the fullness, this authority and power and ruler ship.

It is so uplifting to know the Human Race is not as evolution would teach; man is not evolved but created in the Image and Likeness of God, Himself. The way we see others, the way we see ourselves will change, when we grasp this. ©
